Print sale/general life update
In addition to getting requests for this print, I also had a request for the above photograph, so I did a set of prints of this one too. Again there are 10 in total (although one has gone already), hand darkroom printed silver gelatin photographs on 8x10” paper, signed and numbered, going for £45 + shipping. And again if you would like one please drop me a message in my ask box, or email me on selinamayerphotographs@gmail.com
A life update from the previous post:
“As some of you may be aware, for the last year I have been working on a book of photographs and stories from my three month US road trip in 2011, titled This Land Was Made For You And Me. This was due to be published this summer by an independent magazine, but for a multitude of reasons we have recently parted ways. Although this is the right path to take (I’m looking into other publishers, or perhaps even self publishing if I can get the funding) it is rather unfortunately timed, as I have also recently become unemployed. On the plus side I am no longer being worn down by a quite frankly horrible day job that was making me utterly miserable, leaving me with more time to focus on my own projects and take up interesting collaborations and opportunities, but on the downside it has left me with the glaringly unavoidable question of how on earth I am going to pay the rent. So if you do want a print (and I really hope you do), you would literally be helping me keep a roof over my head so I can keep making work.”
If there are any other photographs of mine that you would like a print of that I don’t post about please don’t hesitate to let me know and I’ll be more than happy to accommodate!
A note on how I do editions of prints: This isn’t a “limited edition” in the strictest sense, as these will mostly likely not be the only prints I make of this photograph. I prefer to treat my editions like editions of a book - these are the first edition as it were, and if I were to print this photograph again the prints would be markedly different, perhaps a different size, a different paper, slightly different tonal balance, and so on.
If you feel like sharing this post I would appreciate it, but please don’t feel any sense of obligation to.
Thank you!

And there’s a couple of these left too!

Print sale/general life update
Hello all
In the wake of this photograph becoming (entirely unexpectedly!) rather popular I got a few requests for prints, so I decided to print a set and put them up for sale. There are 10 in total (although a few have gone already), hand darkroom printed silver gelatin photographs on 8x10” paper, signed and numbered, going for £45 + shipping. If you would like one please drop me a message in my ask box, or email me on selinamayerphotographs@gmail.com
Further to this, I thought I’d give a little update on what’s going on with me at the moment, as I don’t tend to talk much. As some of you may be aware, for the last year I have been working on a book of photographs and stories from my three month US road trip in 2011, titled This Land Was Made For You And Me. I will be posting another set of prints shortly, and if there are any other photographs of mine that you would like a print of that I don’t post about please don’t hesitate to let me know and I’ll be more than happy to accommodate!

So in the last two weeks I have had my phone stolen, my car’s battery has died and needs replacing and I have had a persistent cough when recovering from a cold which has caused me to sprain a muscle in my rib cage and makes me double up with pain every time I move a bit funny, and ended up with me going to A&E today… I’m previewing my book at Interrobang in two days time and I am hoping with every fibre of my being that my streak of bad luck is now over…

My first large scale prints, using salvaged semi-fogged roll paper because I was too poor to buy anything decent.

More old work. This series was the culmination of many months work in my final year at art school.

More old work. This series was the culmination of many months work in my final year at art school.

Hello new followers (and old). Sorry it’s been rather quiet here of late, but there are a number of very good reasons for my recent blogging failure.

First of all, I have been building a darkroom again, and it’s finally finished! I will confess that I have spent quite a bit of my time recently fiddling with old photographs and making contact sheets - there’s a rather exquisite feeling when you can finally work the way you want to work again. As a devotee to analogue technology negative scans just don’t cut it, and I’ve had 18 months of nothing else!

Linked to the making new prints of old photographs in the darkroom is the fact that I’ve just taken on an enormous, scary, but very exciting creative project, which is likely to occupy me for most of the rest of the year. It’s still in the very embryonic stages right now so I won’t say more, but I’ll come clean soon enough I’m sure.

On a more personal level I’ve also rather badly injured my leg and can barely walk, which although doesn’t really affect blogging itself it does rather get in the way of shooting new stuff. And it makes me more inclined to sit around feeling sorry for myself, especially as I know it’s likely to take around 2 months to heal.

That said, I promise there is definitely stuff going on behind the scenes and blogging activity will pick up in the near future! In the mean time feel free to ask me things/send me stuff. I may be quiet but I’m still here, lurking.

Thank you for putting up with me!

I suspect this may well just feed the trolls

…but I just snapped (again) and had a go at some more of the puerile-minded oafs that keep adding smut to my photograph (yes regular followers, porngate is still going strong behind the scenes). Sigh.
